Welcome To The Compulsions' Website
You’re here because you love rock ‘n’ roll.
Well, you’ve come to the right place. Compulsions frontman Rob Carlyle has built a reputation for going to extremes to bring you the ultimate in rock ‘n’ roll
From day one, Rob has enlisted the finest New York-area musicians to bring his musical vision to life. Past collaborators include Frank Ferrer, Richard Fortus, and Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal of Guns N’ Roses; Sami Yaffa of Hanoi Rocks and New York Dolls; Brian Delaney (New York Dolls, Melissa Etheridge); Alec Morton (Raging Slab); and even Earl Slick, the legendary guitarist for David Bowie and John Lennon.
The band’s recordings have also featured blues icon Hubert Sumlin, whose guitar work with Howlin’ Wolf and Muddy Waters shaped the very foundation of rock ‘n’ roll.
Since 2004, Carlyle and his revolving cast of rock royalty have unleashed three EPs, three singles, and three full-length albums, all of which have been showered with critical acclaim.
Here’s what the rock press had to say about The Compulsions:
- “New York Punk ‘N’ Roll Supergroup” – Über Rock
- “Move Over, Axl! Here Comes Rob Carlyle & The Compulsions!” – Please Kill Me
- “By Far One Of The Greatest Underrated Rock Bands Of Our Generation” – antiMusic
- “Coolest Band In The World” – Classic Rock Magazine
- “World’s Greatest Obscure Rock Band” – Sleazegrinder Magazine
On November 13, 2020, Carlyle & Co. unleashed their third album, Ferocious, which hit like a sledgehammer to the senses. Critics were blown away, with the esteemed Vive Le Rock slapping it with a crushing 9 out of 10 and Powerplay Magazine delivering a rare, thunderous 10 out of 10. With reviews like these stacking up release after release, it’s hard to argue against the claim: The Compulsions are one of the most acclaimed—if not the most acclaimed—underground rock bands on the planet.
So what are you waiting for? Crank up Ferocious, dive into the band’s past releases, and let The Compulsions shake your hips, melt your face, and blow your damn mind.
